Better-ed is built for an era when any student can generate the right output. Teachers still need to know if they actually understood it.
01 / 03 OUR STORY
Every great teacher has a move: when a student says something that sounds right, they lean in and ask: "Can you explain that in your own words?"
That question is the best diagnostic in education. It's also the one that doesn't scale. With 40+ students per class, most learners are never asked. The quiet ones, the ones who nod along, the ones who hand in clean work. Those students stay invisible.
Then generative AI arrived, and the problem got harder. Students can now produce polished, well-structured responses without grasping the underlying concept at all. Traditional assessments were built for a world where producing the output was the challenge. They were never meant for this.
"One of the biggest problems Better-ed aims to solve is helping students develop deeper understanding, so they know what their outputs mean, not just what AI gave them."
Jan MurilloSoftware Engineer, Better-ed
We built Better-ed to scale that diagnostic moment. To make understanding visible again, for every student, in every class.
02 / 03 PRINCIPLES

Principle 1
The goal of education is to build thinking. When AI can generate any output on demand, making real understanding visible becomes the most important thing a school can do.

Principle 2
Students who use AI well can learn faster. The condition is that they own the thinking behind the output. Better-ed ensures they do.

Principle 3
Teachers make the decisions about students. Better-ed handles the time-consuming part, so teachers can focus on what they do best: guiding, challenging, and supporting.

Principle 4
Most students never explain their thinking out loud in a classroom. We're changing that, one conversation at a time.
